SKU Naming Convention

Format

All SKUs follow this pattern:

[CATEGORY]-[BRAND]-[PRODUCT]-[VARIANT]-[SIZE]

Components

Category (3 letters)

• TOY - Toys
• GAM - Games
• COL - Collectibles
• ACC - Accessories

Brand (3-4 letters)

• Abbreviated brand name
• Examples: HAZ (Hasbro), MAT (Mattel), WOT (Wizards of the Coast)

Product (alphanumeric)

• Shortened product name
• Max 10 characters
• No spaces, use hyphens

Variant (optional)

• Color, edition, or version
• Examples: BLU, RED, 1ED, LTD

Size (optional)

• Size designation when applicable
• Examples: SM, MD, LG, XL

Examples

• TOY-HAZ-OPTIMUS-RED-LG - Large Red Optimus Prime toy by Hasbro
• GAM-WOT-MTG-1ED - Magic: The Gathering first edition game
• COL-FUN-BATMAN-BLU - Blue Batman collectible by Funko

Rules

1. Always use uppercase
2. Use hyphens to separate components
3. No spaces in SKU
4. Keep it concise but descriptive
5. Components required: Category, Brand, Product
6. Components optional: Variant, Size

Validation

SKUs must: - Be unique in the system - Follow the format above - Be between 10-30 characters - Use only alphanumeric characters and hyphens
